You will receive a warm welcome from a Gorilla Page Safaris representative on your arrival at the airport. After the meet and greet, you will have a short briefing and later transfer to the Volcanoes National Park. As we drive to the Volcanoes National Park, in the northwest part of Rwanda, the main base town for Gorilla tracking, you enjoy the beautiful scenery of the rolling hills and valleys with homesteads. This awesome landscape, bypassing banana plantations on a comfortable road, is 2-3 hours from Kigali to your lodge. You will check into your lodge, which is at the foot of the Mountains, for dinner and overnight.

After your early morning breakfast, at around 6:30 AM, your guide will pick you up and take you to the Kinigi Park Headquarters. As you start the experience that is the highlight of your trip, you will have a briefing before heading to the forest. We will be at the Kinigi ranger station by 7 am, where we are allocated guides and briefed before heading into the forest. We will track one of the habituated Gorilla families in Rwanda. You will move with experienced ranger guides through the forest while searching for mountain gorillas. Only eight people are allowed to track each habituated gorilla family.

Time taken while searching for these gentle giants ranges between 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla groups as their territory can range up to 40km. The park rangers and guides will clear the way and assist you through the forest. The privilege of spending an hour with this family group is an experience that will never leave you. After your ultimate experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation.

On this day, 3 of your 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla and Golden Monkey Safari, you will have your breakfast and then report to the park headquarters for your second experience with different endangered species in the volcanoes, “the Golden Monkeys”. This trek is normally an easy one, which might take between 1 and 2 hours. The golden monkeys are a rare species of Old World monkey now found only in the Virunga mountain range. Now endangered, it is one of the species on the endangered red list.

As you experience this trekking, you will find that they live in social groups of up to 90 individuals, usually led by one adult male. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo. Just as with treks to see the Mountain Gorillas, treks to see the Golden Monkeys take place in the mornings, and visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with these endangered monkeys. You will then return to your lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation.

On this last day of your trip with Gorilla Page Safaris, you will have your breakfast and then drive back to Kigali. You will have lunch, and transfer to the airport for your departure.
