Day to Day
On your arrival for your 6-day Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls true Wilderness safari, drive to Kapchorwa and proceed to Sipi Falls, then go straight to the lodge. In the afternoon, go for the trek through the Sipi Falls. The falls are characterized by 3 spectacular falls along the River Sipi, where the name derives from. The region is predominantly panoramic with the view of the unique Karamoja valley.
In the evening, you will have a coffee tour where you will learn about coffee and personally experience the processes of coffee growth, drying, and processing, locally known as from the tree to the cup experience. The Sipi Falls area, found at the base of Mount Elgon ,is particularly famous for Bugisu Arabica Coffee produced and grown by the local farmers. Bugisu Arabica only grows at an altitude of between 1,600 and 1,900 meters; it is the main cash crop in the area and genuinely one of the finest coffees in the world. Later, you will return for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.
On your day 2 of your 6 days Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls true wilderness adventure safari, start the day with a drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. The park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya, some 700km from Kampala. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park and is the most magnificent thus the name True Wilderness. You will arrive and check in at your lodge and relax as you relax at your lodge.
You will have a morning nature walk in the park and then have a mid-morning game drive. You will have a chance to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, huge herds of buffalo, warthogs, duikers, Jackson’s hartebeests, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hundreds of bird species. Other animals that may be seen roaming around include jackal, Roan antelope, waterbuck, eland, oribi, klipspringer, and lions. The park also boasts of having the highest concentration of birds like the ostrich, kori bustard, vulture, pygmy falcon, hornbill, eagle, and more. You will then return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, go for a cultural tour in the Karamajong community, where you will spend a wonderful evening with the Karamajong people and have an insight into their way of life and beliefs. Later on, you will return to the lodge.
You will have your breakfast and enjoy your last game drive as you exit and get on the road to Murchison Falls National Park. This park is Uganda’s largest conservation areas and boasts of 76 mammal species and 451 bird species that thrive in the open savannah and tropical forests. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park and hike at the top of the falls. You will then check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, proceed to have a game drive as you explore the savannah side of the park. Drive in the open African savanna in search of lions, leopards, hyenas, buffalo, elephants, Jackson hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, and enjoy spotting various bird species. You will then return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, go for a boat ride up the Nile to Murchison Falls, up to the bottom of the falls. Enjoy these spectacular falls where the Nile squeezes through a 7-meter gap, and along the way, you will spot some mammals like hippos in the water, giraffes, and even crocodiles. Thereafter, drive back to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.
You will start your journey back to Kampala with an en-route visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only rhino home in Uganda. This is the home to the southern white rhinos, and here you will have a walking safari in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
