This 10-day tour through Uganda and Rwanda offers unforgettable experiences and various activities. The diverse nature of this safari makes it one of Love Uganda Safaris’ top recommendations for all travelers eager to explore the beauty of both countries. The itinerary includes scenic road drives between national parks featuring rolling hills, rugged landscapes, and vast savannah plains.

Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Welcome to Uganda – The Pearl of Africa! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you will meet your driver guide, who will provide an overview of the safari. You will then embark on a 6 to 7-hour drive along the Kampala–Bombo–Masindi Road to Murchison Falls National Park. On the way, you’ll stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an opportunity to track rhinos and learn about their conservation, as they are one of the world’s endangered species. Afterward, you’ll have lunch in Masindi before heading to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your pre-booked lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive in Northern Murchison Falls, Afternoon Boat Cruise, and Hike to the Top of the Falls
Enjoy an early breakfast around 6:30 am before meeting your guide for a spectacular game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. This is the best time to spot a significant portion of the Big Five animals (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant). During the game drive, you will observe many bird species, including some unique to the Rift Valley, such as the Abyssinian ground hornbill. After your drive, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile River in the afternoon for breathtaking views and photographic opportunities. You’ll likely encounter Nile crocodiles, hippopotamuses, and various bird species. After the cruise, hike to the top of the falls and experience the mighty roar of the water as it rushes through the gorge.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park while Exploring the Countryside
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your drive to Kibale Forest National Park. Depending on the timing, stop for lunch en route in Hoima or Fort Portal. The journey will take you through lush banana and tea plantations with beautiful views of the Rift Valley. After lunch, visit the Amabeere Ga Nyinamwiru caves and Nyakasura Falls, a few kilometers from Fort Portal town. If time permits, briefly tour Fort Portal City to explore the Karambi royal tombs and the Toro Kingdom palace. Continue your journey to Kibale Forest National Park and check into your lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park and Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Enjoy breakfast before heading to the visitor center for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing, enter the forest to search for these human-like primates. Once you encounter the chimps, you will have one hour to take pictures and observe their behavior. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.
After lunch, check out of the lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This drive presents an excellent opportunity to see lush vegetation, rolling hills, scenic crater lakes, and the majestic Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner, relaxation, and overnight stay.

Day 5: Kasenyi Plains Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Trip, Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, where you have a high chance of spotting nocturnal hunters like leopards before they retreat to their hiding spots. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the sunrise, illuminating the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains. This area is rich in biodiversity, offering opportunities to see various species of birds and animals, including elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and leopards.
After the game drive, return to your lodge for breakfast before heading out for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. During this cruise, you will be treated to stunning views as you sail the waters, where many animals gather to drink. Keep an eye out for hippos and crocodiles along the shore.
After the boat cruise, return to your lodge for a late lunch and an exciting evening game drive. During this drive, you’ll encounter numerous tree and bird species, including the yellow-billed kite and Robin-chat.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park; Game Drive in Ishasha Sector for Tree-Climbing Lions
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on an en-route game drive through the Ishasha sector. This is a unique opportunity to glimpse the kings of the jungle—tree-climbing lions, which are uniquely found in Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. Witnessing these lions during a hunt or mating season is an unforgettable experience. Our knowledgeable guides will help ensure that you observe these majestic animals comfortably as they lounge in the branches of acacia trees.
Continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home of mountain gorillas. This will be a bumpy ride through the hills of Kabale and Kisoro. Upon arrival, check into your lodge to relax. In the evening, you can go on a guided nature walk and visit the Batwa communities.

Day 7: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today is a highly anticipated day for many as we embark on a full-day adventure to track the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest National Park. The day begins with a briefing on gorilla trekking rules to ensure the safety of both guests and gorillas. We will then head into the impenetrable forest for these gentle giants. Guided by our expert team, we’ll look for signs of the gorillas and adjust our path until we find them. After this rare and memorable encounter, you’ll spend the rest of the day and night in Bwindi National Park.

Day 8: Community Activities in Kisoro & Drive to Volcanoes National Park
Today presents a unique opportunity to learn about the local communities’ poignant history through various activities. You can participate in the Batwa cultural experience by visiting a regional community to learn about their way of life. Other options include canoe trekking at Lake Mutanda and experiencing coffee-making, where you can try your hand at this local industry. After your chosen activity, you will drive to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda via the Kyanika border.

Day 9: Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Dian Fossey Museum
This day is dedicated to trekking the golden monkeys, an endemic species of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. You will enter the forest and traverse through bamboo vegetation and various indigenous plants, including giant lobelias. Your park guide will share stories about the national park’s history and the flora and fauna that inhabit it. The Golden Monkey trek is expected to take about five hours.

Day 10: Visit the Kigali Genocide Museum, City Tour, and Departure
After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, you’ll drive to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city. Enjoy the scenic views along the way.
