This four-day gorilla trekking safari lets you observe two groups in the breathtaking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You’ll enjoy two hours of interaction with these majestic primates, and you may also have the chance to participate in a community walk to learn about the daily lives of the Batwa people.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Start your journey early in the morning to make the most of your day as you head to the southwestern part of Uganda, where the park is located. Before continuing, you’ll briefly stop in Mbarara town for lunch and mini-shopping. During this ride, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Uganda’s landscape. Upon arrival at the park, check-in at your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking and Community Walk
Wake up early to have breakfast and prepare your packed lunch and drinking water for a day of trekking in the forest. Arrive at the park headquarters on time for your briefing before heading into the forest for your first trek, which may last 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. You will have a full hour to observe the gorillas in their natural habitat and appreciate their similarities to humans. After the trek, return to the park headquarters and return to your lodging. Freshen up before setting out for a community walk to interact with the Batwa people. You can enjoy their cultural dances and songs during this experience. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Second Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Follow a similar routine as the previous day. After the morning briefing, you will trek a different gorilla group from the one you observed the day before. Capture photographs of this new group before concluding your trekking experience. After the trek, please return to the vehicle and drive to Lake Bunyonyi, known for its stunning views and activities such as canoeing. Upon arrival, check-in, freshen up before dinner and stay overnight at either Acadia Cottages or Bunyonyi Overland Camp.
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a scenic boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi. This boat ride will allow you to view several islands and the beautifully terraced hills surrounding the lake. After the boat ride, pack your belongings and prepare to head back to Kampala. Enjoy lunch en route and a few stops at places of interest. Upon reaching Kampala, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight or at a hotel if you continue your stay.
