5 Day Chimpanzee Trekking and Lake Kivu Experiences in Rwanda
Welcome to Rwanda and Gorilla Page Safaris for a 5-Day Chimpanzee Trekking and Lake Kivu Experience in Rwanda that will offer you a great opportunity to visit one of the most highly-visited National Parks in Rwanda-Nyungwe Forest National Park. This National Park is a historical forest park that started in 1903 when the German government declared it a reserve and a colonial crownland of Nyungwe.
Chimpanzee trekking is the major activity in this park, but there are also attractions like colobus monkeys, a canopy walk, and the surrounding attractions such as tea plantations and Lake Kivu.
On this trip, you will also visit the museum in the Southern province and then engage with nature and meet local people around the beautiful countryside.
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport and transfer to your hotel
When you arrive at the airport, you will go through the customs and immigration process and then meet our company representative who will be waiting for you. You will have your warm welcome to the “land of a thousand hills”. He will brief you about your trip and then transfer you to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Meal plan: Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel des Mille Colline.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Enjoy your early breakfast, check out of the hotel, and head to the Western province. On your way, visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in the Southern province. This will give you a great history of traditional ways of living among Rwandans and their past way of the leadership of their kingship. Enjoy an en-route lunch. You will reach Nyungwe National Park in the afternoon and relax and spend your evening time at the lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Adventures
On day 3 of your 5-Day Chimpanzee Trekking and Lake Kivu Experiences in Rwanda, have your early breakfast and leave your lodge to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe. The park is well known for having 13 species of primates. Transfer to the park for a briefing and the chimpanzee trekking experience and when you find them, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them.
After the chimpanzee trek, have lunch before heading for a canopy walk. This 70-meter suspended metallic bridge will give you a great view of the Nyungwe Forest. On a lucky day, you can spot a few more primates in the forest as you take a walk on the bridge. In the evening, we return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.
