Day 1: Arusha to Central Serengeti
Your safari will begin at 8 AM with a pickup from your hotel in Arusha. Once everyone is aboard, you will head towards Serengeti National Park. The 240 km drive will take approximately 6 hours. The name “Serengeti” means “endless plains” in the local African language, and the breathtaking view of the grasslands stretching out to the horizon is truly remarkable. With a total area of 14,763 square kilometers, the Serengeti redefines the concept of distance.
The Serengeti is home to the magnificent “Big 5” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard). You’ll also have the chance to see one of Africa’s most beautiful animals—the Impala. The Serengeti ecosystem hosts Africa’s largest remaining concentration of plains game. The legendary Serengeti National Park is renowned for its incredible population of lions and leopards. Imagine witnessing a lion pride in action or a leopard resting on a tree branch; these unique experiences await you.
The central portion of the Serengeti, known as the Seronera area, is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, a crucial water source that attracts a variety of wildlife. Be on the lookout for the many lion pride that thrive in this region and the Serengeti “Kopjes,” which are massive granite boulders that shelter diverse flora and fauna. During your day-long game drive, you will enjoy a picnic lunch. After an adventure-filled day, you’ll end the evening with a hearty dinner and a restful night at your accommodation.
Days 2 & 3: Central Serengeti National Park
You can enjoy a relaxed breakfast and depart for a full day of game drives around 9:00 AM with a packed lunch or start your day with an early morning game drive at 6:00 AM. If you choose the latter, you will return to your accommodation for breakfast before heading out on an afternoon game drive, also with a packed lunch.
During these full-day game drives, you will explore the central portion of Serengeti National Park. The Seronera area remains one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park due to the Seronera River, which attracts a variety of wildlife. Even in the off-season for the migration, the lion prides that inhabit this region provide excellent viewing opportunities. The interactions and survival of these prides make every game drive an enriching experience. With a picnic lunch during the day, your adventures will typically conclude by around 5 PM. After another exciting day, enjoy a hearty dinner and a peaceful rest in your accommodation.
Day 4 – Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Later, depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater, the most enormous collapsed volcanic Crater in the world, spans fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. A ring of extinct volcanoes surrounds the Crater, and its floor is dotted with watering holes that shelter around 30,000 animals. The eventful day concludes with a hearty dinner and a restful night in your accommodation.
Day 5 – Ngorongoro Crater Tour (5 hours) to Arusha
On the final day of your safari, you will start early. After a quick breakfast, descend into the crater floor around 6:30 AM. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera, featuring a vast floor of about 260 square kilometers and a depth of over 2,000 feet. A 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will present numerous wildlife encounters, so keeping your camera ready is highly recommended. You can expect to see many African elephants, buffalo, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions. Following a picnic lunch at the scenic hippo pool, you will begin your steep ascent to the Crater’s top exit. This marks the final leg of your safari, with a 4-hour drive remaining to Arusha. You will arrive at your preferred location in Arusha by 6:00 PM. With incredible experiences and countless memories to cherish, it’s time to say goodbye to your team.
