The 7-day Rwanda helicopter safari is a fantastic safari that takes you to Rwanda’s national parks. You expect to visit Akagera National Park, which is home to Africa’s big which are; lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos; visit Nyungwe Forest National Park, where you will be tracking chimpanzees, you will also engage in a canopy walk, which is a breathtaking activity and it is only donned in Nyungwe.

This safari will take you to Volcanoes National Park, home to mountain gorillas and golden monkey trekking, and you will have an aerial view of the animals and the forests. You will also visit the gorilla guardian village. This safari is going to be hassle-free.

 

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel

Upon arrival, our driver guide will pick you up from the airport, greet you, and take you through the itinerary. Then, you will do a city tour. You will start with the Genocide Memorial Centre, where you will listen to stories that gave birth to the 1994 massacre. You will also visit different artisans and local markets and then return to the hotel, where you will spend overnight.

 

Day 2: Fly to Nyungwe and canopy walk

Arise in the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, and meet your driver guide, who will transfer you to the airport, where you must board a flight to Nyungwe National Park. You will have a magical view of Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills and the national; arrive in the park, check in the lodge, and then in the afternoon, you will go for a canopy walk where you will be rubbing shoulders with monkeys, birds, and you will enjoy magical views as you are in the skies. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and fly to Volcanoes National Park

Arise in the morning, enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast, meet your driver guide, and be transferred to the park information center to be guided through chimpanzee trekking. You will be allocated a chimpanzee family to track, then head to the forest with a ranger guide who is knowledgeable about the chimpanzee movements. Spend an hour with them, return to the lodge for a refreshing drink, and board a flight to Volcanoes National Park, home of mountain gorillas. You will arrive in the evening, check in to the lodge, have dinner, and overnight.

 

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Gorilla Guardian’s Village

Arise in the morning, have a delicious breakfast, and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking experience. You will be assigned a gorilla family to trek with, then get lost in the wilderness to search for gorillas. While searching for gorillas, you will spot birds, meet them, spend an hour with them, and then return to the lodge to freshen up. In the evening, you will visit the gorilla guardian’s village, where Rwandan culture is exhibited. They will entertain you through dances and ancient stories. They also have craft shops where you can buy souvenirs. In the evening, you will retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 5: Fly to Akagera National Park

Arise in the morning for a scrumptious breakfast, check out at your convenience, and fly to the northeastern part of the country. You will arrive in the park in the afternoon, check-in at the lodge, enjoy a hot lunch, and spend the whole day relaxing at the lodge in Akagera.

 

Day 6: Game drive and boat cruise

You will wake up in the morning, have a delicious breakfast, and head to the park to search for animals. You will be amazed to encounter herds of buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, lions, and leopards, which are Africa’s big five. You will see other animals like zebras, giraffes, Impalas, and birds. You will return to the lodge and have lunch. Then, in the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise on Lake Ihema to enjoy a gentle cruise through schools of hippos, crocodiles, and birds on the lake banks. You will take pictures, and at dusk, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 7: Fly back to Kigali

After a scrumptious breakfast at a time of convenience, you will check out of the lodge and be transferred to the airstrip to board a flight back to Kigali. Arrive in Kigali, have lunch en route, and proceed to the Airport for a flight back home or to other destinations. This will mark the end of a seven-day Rwanda helicopter safari.
