Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the southwestern region of Uganda and is recognized for its exceptional offerings for adventure seekers.

Often referred to as the place “where gold meets silver,” the park is notable for being home to both endangered mountain gorillas and the striking golden monkeys, providing a unique opportunity to observe these species in their natural environment.

The park spans the slopes of three prominent volcanoes: Mount Muhavura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo, presenting visitors with breathtaking landscapes, misty peaks, and diverse ecosystems. In addition to gorilla trekking, activities available for visitors include tracking golden monkeys, engaging in mountain hikes, bird watching, and experiencing the rich cultural heritage of the Batwa people, one of Africa’s oldest indigenous groups.

As part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park stands out as an important destination for eco-tourism. It offers a combination of intimate wildlife encounters, adventurous experiences, and opportunities for cultural immersion, making it a must-visit location for travelers.
