Your guide will take you to Tarangire National Park, the least visited reserve on this itinerary but one that promises fantastic game viewing. Home to Tanzania’s largest elephant population, Tarangire supports abundant wildlife, including buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and antelope species—most visibly concentrated along the life-giving Tarangire River during the dry season (June to October). Your accommodation tonight will be at Tarangire Safari Lodge, located among giant baobab trees. Enjoy dinner and an overnight at your lodge after a full day of exploring the park.

This day will be dedicated entirely to game viewing in Tarangire National Park. Explore the park’s diverse habitats and landscapes, including the Silalei Swamp, where predators follow prey during the dry season. From June to November, the park is alive with the seasonal migration of wildebeest and zebras, showcasing one of the largest wildlife concentrations outside of Serengeti National Park. Expect sightings of lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, and, if you’re lucky, the rare wild dog. In the late afternoon, enjoy a bush sundowner with drinks prepared by your guide.

Before leaving Tarangire on your Tanzania Flying Migration Safari, you will have a final opportunity to spot animals you may have missed. Then, head towards the multicultural town of Mto Wa Mbu. You will go to the lush crater highlands as you leave the African Rift Valley behind.

Soon, you will reach higher ground, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Maasai Plains and Lake Manyara. Photo stops will be made to capture the breathtaking scenery. Day 5 | Full-Day Ngorongoro Crater Tour

Begin your day early by leaving the Plantation Farm Lodge. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch as you descend 610 meters to the Ngorongoro Crater floor’s grasslands, which span approximately 265 square kilometers. Despite its size, the Crater is home to various wildlife, making it a prime location for rewarding game viewing. You will spend the day exploring the crater floor and stopping for a picnic among the hippos.

Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, this caldera is the largest intact and unflooded one in the world, providing a year-round habitat for around 25,000 large mammals, including black rhinos, wildebeests, and zebras, as well as hyenas. The Crater’s forests shelter elephants and buffalo; its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos, while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals represent its top predators. After an extensive day of game viewing, you will leave the Crater and head to your accommodation.
